Musician
My music blends Celtic Traditional, folk, bluegrass and punk into a genre I lovingly call “feral folk.” As a solo artist, my songs explore grief, joy, queerness, rage, intergenerational trauma, and collisions with a ghost or two. Over the last decade I released 4 LP's, 2 EP's, and original music for television and film, most notably MTV & Lifetime. In 2024 I won the Kerrville New Folk Contest, an award bestowed to two of my songwriting heroes, Adrianne Lenker and Anaïs Mitchell, and in 2016, I was the youngest musician to ever be inducted into the Grammy’s San Francisco chapter. For fourteen years I’ve toured internationally, including as part of the Americana Proud Showcase (First LGBT Showcase at Americana Fest, 2023), Hardly Strictly Bluegrass (2019, 2023), and Lincoln Center Out of Doors (2017).
oompapa
oompapa is a trio project featuring musicians Noga Cabo (they/she), Yi-Mei Templeman (she/her) and Lila Blue (they/them). Playing a mixture of cello, banjo, piano and guitar, their music oscillates between folk, classical and alternative pop. The trio generates complex and poignant three-part harmonies on songs about cultural assimilation (“Mother Tongue”), loss of faith (“kindgod”), kismet (“Fate Complex”), and vengeance spurred by friendship breakups (“Lego”).
In 2021, all three were invited to perform in a songwriting showcase curated by Broadway director, Tina Landau — Cabo & Templeman as a duo, and Blue as a solo act. They became fast friends. In 2024 the trio went to a old stone house by a lake and oompapa was born. oompapa’s first EP is set for release in 2026.
